It is with considerable sadness that we announce that KNG71190 may finally have to leave the family.

We’ve had newer buildings.

We’ve had smarter buildings.

We’ve certainly had buildings that are only one colour.

But they don’t make them like this anymore.

This is a proper old-school Elliott A21 portable building, approximately 24ft × 8ft, open plan and mounted on jacklegs. No fashionable architectural cladding. No fancy contemporary colour scheme. No pretence whatsoever that it left the factory last Thursday.

It is old. It is battered. It is multicoloured. And we rather like it.

A GENUINE OLD-SCHOOL ELLIOTT

KNG71190 has clearly lived a life.

Externally, the panels and paintwork are showing their age, with peeling and weathered finishes, scrapes, marks, discolouration and the sort of general battle scars that only come from years of actually being used.

The yellow doors are particularly magnificent.

Whether Elliott intended the building eventually to acquire this particular combination of cream, green, grey and yellow is something we may never know.

Internally, things aren’t exactly Mayfair either.

It’s an older, straightforward open-plan office, with windows, blinds, lighting, electrical fittings and heating visible. The floor covering is worn and marked and the internal finishes are decidedly from the “function before fashion” school of interior design.

In other words:

If you’re looking for beautiful — keep scrolling.

If you’re looking for cheap, solid, usable space — now we’re talking.

WHY ON EARTH ARE WE SELLING IT?

We ask ourselves the same question.

Buildings like this have been part of the portable accommodation industry for years. They’re uncomplicated, practical and, despite appearances, remarkably difficult to kill.

Unfortunately, we can’t keep everything forever.

Apparently.

So, after much soul-searching, several sleepless nights and what can only be described as an emotionally difficult board meeting, KNG71190 has been valued at the princely sum of £940 + VAT.

At that money, we’re practically selling the family silver.

Admittedly, slightly rusty, multicoloured family silver with jacklegs.

DON’T WANT TO COMMIT?

We understand.

Perhaps you’re not emotionally ready for the responsibility of owning an Elliott A21.

That’s why we’ll also consider hiring it at:

At £5 a week, we’d politely suggest that excessive deliberation may be economically counterproductive.

WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY GETTING?

It could potentially suit use as a site office, workshop office, yard office, store, welfare support space, club room, farm office or simply somewhere dry to put people and things.

It is being offered very much on the basis of what you see is what you get.

We’re not disguising its age.

We’re not pretending the cosmetics are good.

And we’re certainly not giving it a quick coat of paint and describing it as “refurbished.”

It’s an old Elliott. It looks like an old Elliott. And it’s priced like an old Elliott.

Personally, we think that’s part of its charm.
