Portable Sentry Box / National Trust / Dunham Massey

Case Study: National Trust/Dunham Massey

Scunthorpe based Containerking / rent-a-unit serving the Lincolnshire/Yorkshire and Humber Regions has only been manufacturing portable buildings since 2021 and the rent-a-unit brand past associated with the formation of Elliott hire was only reformed in August 2019 but we have made huge strides in such a short space of time building up a fleet approaching now 100 rental units and is now beginning to contribute two new additional revenue streams to the enlarged Containerking cabin hire/sales business. Boasting over 1000 combined customers across our local regions and with an increasing number of multi-national organisations we now find ourselves now dealing with, it was a very welcome surprise to be approached by the respected charity The National Trust who showed an interested in one of our Sentry Box Portable Buildings for a simple ticketing booth at the Stately House “Dunham Massey” In Cheshire.

The National Trust

The UK National Trust is a charity organization that was founded in 1895 to protect and preserve historic places and green spaces throughout England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The Trust manages over 500 historic houses, castles, gardens, and nature reserves, and is responsible for the preservation and upkeep of these properties for the benefit of the public. The organization is funded through donations, membership fees, and revenue generated from admission fees and commercial activities at Trust properties. The National Trust also plays an important role in education and community outreach, working to promote conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

Portable Sentry Boxes

A sentry box is a small shelter or booth, typically made of wood or metal, commonly used by military or security personnel as a lookout or guard post. It is usually located at an entrance, border crossing, or other strategic location, and provides protection from the elements while allowing a manned guard to maintain a clear view of their surroundings. Sentry boxes may also be used as a symbol of authority or security, such as at the entrance to a gated community or public building etc and are also commonly used as ticket booths and for generally controlling any restricted entrance.

Sentry boxes are popular for use as ticket booths or for security hut’s for a few reasons:

Visibility: Portable Sentry boxes are designed to provide an unobstructed view of the surrounding area, making them ideal for security or ticket sales where a clear line of sight is important.

  1. Protection: Portable Sentry boxes provide shelter from the elements and can be equipped with heating, cooling, or insulation to keep personnel comfortable while on duty.
  2. Security: Sentry boxes are typically made of sturdy materials like metal or concrete, which makes them difficult to breach. This can help keep personnel and equipment safe from vandalism, theft, or other threats.
  3. Convenience: Sentry boxes are often small and compact, which makes them easy to transport and install. This can be especially useful for temporary security checkpoints or ticket booths at events or construction sites.

What other uses do Sentry Boxes have?

Sentry boxes have a variety of uses beyond security or ticket sales, including:

  1. Information booths: Sentry boxes can be used as information booths at events or tourist attractions, providing visitors with maps, brochures, and other helpful information.
  2. Parking attendant booths: Sentry boxes can be used as parking attendant booths, allowing attendants to collect payment and direct traffic at parking lots.
  3. Toll booths: Sentry boxes can be used as toll booths, where toll collectors can collect payment from drivers passing through a toll road or bridge.
  4. Guard stations: Sentry boxes can be used as guard stations at factories, construction sites, or other locations where security personnel need to monitor access to the area.
  5. Observation posts: Sentry boxes can be used as observation posts for wildlife viewing, bird watching, or other outdoor activities.
  6. Storage sheds: Sentry boxes can be used as storage sheds for gardening tools, sports equipment, or other small items.

Overall, the versatility and practicality of sentry boxes make them useful in a variety of settings and applications beyond their traditional role as security or ticket booths.
